What happens if the vestibular system is damaged

The vestibular system detects the whole body, movements, and balance. It's governed by the inner ear, your fluids,  and your semicircular canals.

When a child is out of balance, it could possibly due to the imbalance in your inner ear.

The vestibular system also governs body awareness and where your body is in space, how fast you're moving, decelerating or accelerating.

When there is a vestibular system disturbance, a child may experience various symptoms such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Feeling off-balance
  • Feeling as if you are floating or as if the world is spinning
  • Blurred vision
  • Disorientation
  • Falling or stumbling
