Learn How to Read - Mixing letters to get new sounds 'Oo, Aw, Ow, Oi, Oy,'

Hello, today, we’re going to mix up some letters we learned to mix up with ‘O’ to get a new sound. You know what happens when you mix yellow paint with blue paint, you’ll get green, a new color. The same thing that happens with letters, Let’s take ‘O’ letter, you remember ‘o’ that says its own name sometimes when it’s at the beginning of the word, like “ocean” and the beginning of the word, “open”, that’s the long “O”.

Kids with ADHD or autism want to be independent try Goally, the visual scheduler hat guides them through routines, so you don't have to. Goally reinventing routines.

It says its own name when there’s another vowel in the word. But if there’s no other vowel in the word like “Ox”, ‘o’ is short.

Now see what happens when we mix two ‘o’s together, we get a new sound like "book, look, good” and took. When we mix the two ‘o’s they make a new sound ‘oo’.

Now let’s take the letter ‘o’ and mix it up together with letter ‘w’, we get a new sound ‘ow’ as in the word “cow, how, now, and “brown”.

We have two more mix up words for you today. If we put the letter ‘a’ next to ‘w’, we get the sound of ‘aw’ as in “saw, paw, and claw”.

For our last mixed up sound, it’s the sound in “boy” - ‘o’ &’y’. Sometimes, ‘o’ joins in with letter ‘i’ and sounds as ‘oi’ as in “join, point, and oink”.

For families living with ADHD or Autism, preventing meltdowns is everything! Goally reduces stress by enabling kids to complete routines independently. Goally, reinventing routines
