Conferences about ADHD, Autism, and other conditions can be fantastic places to keep up to date with new discoveries, see info-packed presentations, and even hear inspirational stories. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and the current situation, a lot of these amazing events have had to be postponed or even straight-up canceled. There however happens to be a silver lining.
Because of the pandemic, many of these conferences that were previously postponed or canceled have moved online, providing the opportunity for people all around the country and even the world to attend them. No longer are you required to look at conferences just within your state or have to buy an expensive plane ticket to attend. Access to these conferences and all of the information that they provide are now just a click away. Listed below are seven awesome conferences coming up in the next 2 months that we will be attending and totally suggest checking out yourself.
August 3rd - August 6th: National Autism Conference
To start our list off we have the National Autism Conference hosted by Penn State University (well originally). This conference is exciting for a whole bunch of reasons. First of all, anyone can attend and watch the presentations free of charge which can’t be said for all of these events. Additionally, the schedule is jam-packed with 3 days of great presentations. Lastly, if you check out their website they have previous conferences record and uploaded dating back to 2016. Definitely check out their website and try and attend this conference.
August 6th - August 7th: Texas Autism Virtual Conference
The next conference we want to talk about is focused on schools and education. The Texas Autism Virtual Conference, sponsored by the Texas Education Agency, is focused on strategies, resources, and evidence-based practices aimed at increasing student performance and success. This two-day event is a great conference for parents, special needs teachers and anyone else interested in education strategies.
August 18th - August 20th: Virtual ADHD Symposium
The Virtual ADHD Symposium is a conference with not a ton of information online on their upcoming 2020 conference (as their keynote speaker has not been released yet). However, on their webpage, they have their previous conferences and presentations uploaded and available to download for free. Based on some of their previous presentations, their 2020 upcoming should be good even if all of the information is not yet available online.
September 16th - September 19th: FABA Behavior Analysis Annual Meeting
The FABA Behavior Analysis Annual Meeting is primarily a conference for therapists. This conference has been held since 1980 and is a longstanding well-regarded conference for BCBA’s and other behavior therapists. This conference has a fee so should probably only be attended if you are a professional in the field as there already are a lot of free resources that are totally adequate for parents.
October 8th - October 9th: Michigan Autism Conference
The Michigan Autism Conference is an awesome conference with 7 keynote speakers packed into 2 awesome days. The intended goal if this conference is to spread information, training techniques, and treatments to parents, caregivers, and professionals who work with and care for individuals with autism. In addition to registration information, their website also has conference programs dating back to 2014. These guides have a ton of information are totally free and great to check out.
October 15th - October 16th: Autism New Jersey
The last and final conference we’re going to focus on today is one hosted by Autism New Jersey. This conference is just a goldmine of knowledge as it packs 60 presentations into just 2 days. You can check out every single presentation and presenter on their website. There is a $99 attendance fee so make sure to check out the topics covered before you register. If you can afford attendance this conference is bound to be amazing, after looking at the schedule I was shocked by how many different topics were covered so at least give the website a look.
No matter if you are a therapist, special needs teacher, parent of a child with neuro differences, or are diagnosed yourself, these conferences should have something for you.
